Problem:  Water supply has turbidity, color and contains hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg smell).

Solution: Electromedia® V
                  Turbidity Filtration Using Alum

What is ground water under the influence?

Ground water is water that naturally occurs within the geologic features under the earth’s surface. Ground water is typically deep enough that for all practical matters the surface water does not reach it, and therefore does not affect the ground water’s quality. Ground water under the influence is water within the geologic features under the earth's surface, but is connected in some manner to water from the earth’s surface. Ground water under the influence is water typically found in shallow wells, yet may also be water from deeper wells that allow surface water to enter through such formations as sinkholes or vertical fractures in the underground rock.

Ground water is classified as being under the direct influence of surface water if it exhibits either a significant occurrence of insects or other macroorganisms, algae, or large diameter pathogens such as Giardia lamblia or Cryptosporidium, or has significant and relatively rapid shifts in water characteristics such as turbidity, temperature, conductivity or pH which closely correlate to climatological or surface water conditions.

Samples of water going to be filtered should look turbid with little or no settling occuring even after 24 hours of standing.

We have a solution.

Filtronics Electromedia® V is a state of the art filtration system for turbidity and color removal with superior operating and filtration characteristics. The system consists of an alum feed, a reaction vessel (size based on water temperature), and a filter vessel. The media has absorptive qualities and captures particles that would ordinarily pass through conventional filtration units. The water is treated with chlorine and alum to produce non-detectable color units and no taste or odor. The filter removes below 2 micron material including giardia and cryptosporidium.

Modular Approach

Filtronics uses a unique three component modular construction and custom design approach to each application. This design approach is utilized in conjunction with chemical feed, sludge treatment, and filtration of clarified elements to provide proven effectiveness in water treatment, industrial waste pretreatment, and other conditions requiring the separation of solids from liquids.

Skid Mount System

Filtronics offers packaged, skid mounted systems for smaller discharge volumes. These provide a safe, one-pass discharge for different types of wastewater, including recycled coolant water or recycled parts washing water.

Advantages of Filtronics Modular Design Industrial system:

  • Custom unique design for each application.
  • Varied size of individual components without compromising quality.
  • Can be configured several ways to fit into space - around corners, long narrow arrangements or consolidated into a square.
  • Can be purchased as an entire system or any of the three basic components individually.
  • Engineered to be adaptable to every water and waste water system.
  • Greater price performance per square foot.

Filtronics Electromedia® V effectively and efficiently removes Turbidity from water to acceptable levels, filtering particles as small as 2 microns without filter aids. The system is capable of operating at a maximum of up to 10 gpm per sq. ft. and producing high quality potable water efficiently.
